      It's pretty much that simple.

      Now, the national GOP leadership might be promising him a spot on the 2012 presidential ticket, but by then he'll have been a former governor for nearly two years.  And as Kos pointed out to explain why John Edwards in 2007-8 (and to an extent Howard Dean in 2003-4) didn't make it very far in the primaries, it was because they had no political base left in their home states.  You have to be a sitting politician to have a political base, and Smilin' Tim won't have one.

        ..in his situation: nothing.

        He'll wait and wait and wait to see if a stay is granted from the federal court which will make the decision for him.

        (* all republican politicians, anyway)
