  •  The poll may suck but I see several factors at (0+ / 0-)

play that may account for such sentiment.  First the United States, if I recall correctly has some 50,000 troops stationed in South Korea on the DMZ. Remember that the military is comprised of human beings who have family and loved ones that deeply care about them.  The United State is closely allied with Japan and has a large number of service personnel located in Japan.  There are United States' territories located in the Pacific includeing Guam, the Northern Mariana (which is a social justice tragedy and an embarrasment), and American Samoa that are within strikeing distance of a medium range missile.  The United States also has strategic interests in several Pacific islands.  Communists remain a cultural boogeyman. Finally, the United States' Pacific coast is closer to North Korea - Alaska is the closest so keep an eye out from the porch Sarah - than GB is.  Is it realistic that North Korea will develop an ICBM in the near future?  Probably not, but the prospect is scarey as shit.

Grandma used to call me "That One" but she had twenty-something grand-kids and Alzheimers. Now, that "That one" is President!
