  •  When you've put your job on the line... (0+ / 0-)

Like I put my job on the line by coming out publicly on the radio and in newspapers in support of ENDA, then you can chide me about a helpful attitude.

some of us went ahead of ENDA as it was being drafted.

You have to understand that every day sees hundreds of diaries scroll down the list, and if something doesn't "stick" after one try, it's not because the community is hostile/unwilling to consider it.  Part of what got this diary on the rec list is that Elise is a very well-known user, so in the crush of diaries that have scrolled by over the past few hours, it stuck out prominently.

If I could do a post-mortem on your attempt to discuss the West Virginia ENDA, I'd point to two things: 1. it came in the midst of a very heated primary season, where site traffic swelled and a lot of energy was being pumped into candidate volunteering, and 2. you wrote very little on the issue.  I've gone back and read your two diaries on it, but understand that we have people who write weekly on a single issue and still have trouble getting regular readership.  (e.g. A Siegel is the go-to writer for energy-related issues, but his stuff almost never makes the recommended list.  It's a tough crowd to sell to sometimes.)

Trust me, I get as frustrated as the next person about the unnecessary/unhelpful diaries that clog the recommended list, but there's nothing you can do about that without trying to draw more people to your writing.  It's a democratic system for better and worse, and for issues to stick out above the fray takes a lot of work.  You had the misfortune to be posting on a state policy that not many people knew about, during a season of high traffic energy going elsewhere.

But you've been here long enough to know all this.  And you'd threatened to leave the site before over it, so I'm not sure why you'd backlash against the people of Iowa.  What did Iowa do to deserve your anger?
