Not at all.  Not at all.

No, the reason for manufactured boogeymen is to have something to Be A Hero against.  Someone or thing to be Righteously Angry about.  Some villain at which to smite, Action Figure Hero style.

It's all just the B-movie narrative they like to play out, where they are heros in their own minds.

You can't sell tickets and popcorn without a good Enemy in the storyline.  Soros, moveon, Ayers, generic Terrorists, now ACORN.  Substitute The Riddler or the Joker, and you get the idea.

Here they come To Save the Day, Beck and Hannity and their teabagging followers.

Not fear, just an evil Villain to make themselves feel mighty, and self-righteous, and smugly smugly superior.

The perfect antidote to feelings of insecurity and inadequacy, fear of failure, all stoked by the in-it-for-the-money hatemongers.

Remember the good old days when the antidote was buying a mega pickup truck, a McMansion or the biggest BBQ grill in the subdivision?
