      Bio-digestion is the most likely solution.

      Simple chemical digestion of these simple plastics is not feasable without killing every living thing in proximity.

      We value plastics for their chemical resistance and toughness.

      Like everything else, the duality of existance makes these desireabloe properties pretty damned undesirable under other circumstances.
