    was the two meter high marsupial that burrowed in the ground. I think it was a ground sloth. It had loads of bones that served as a protective armor. Because it was omnivorous, it could even take on a saber tooth tiger to nosh on. Interestingly, it's a member of the gone extinct group of North American animals that disappeared just as humans arrived in North America around 12,000-14,000 years ago. You could go back further if you want to challenge Clovis Civilization as the earliest point of human habitation of the continent.

      and the clovis civilization --if not the clovis humans as well. Location I've heard is it struck the eastern Canadian ice sheet.
