  •  Wait, wasn't that the plot of a Tom Clancy novel? (0+ / 0-)

"In 1999, he asserted that Vice President Gore intended to reduce world population by 90% through some kind of end-of-the-millennium Y2K plot."

The Tom Clancy video-game-turned-novel "Rainbow Six" had a band of sinister environmentalists that were plotting to do just that: Formulate a killer virus that would kill off 90% of the population so that they could enjoy a post-apocalyptic people-free eden of their very own. 'Cause that's how environmentalists roll, yo.

Is this where right-wing conspiracies come from? Tom Clancy plots? Or maybe it's vice-versa.

It was a weird for me to read that book, being as I'm a bleeding-heart-liberal-tree-hugger (who has a weakness for pulpy, hard-bitten action novels, go figure). Basically it was an action story that featured me as the bad guy. Imagine Sauron reading Lord of the Rings, you get the idea.
