  •  Why? (8+ / 0-)

do progressives continue to use right wing marketing terms?  It isn't even accurate to call them "pro-life" as the majority of them support the death penalty, war, and medical research using embryos that will be discarded that could potentially save lives.

They are anti-choice.  They can call themselves pro-life, but we shouldn't go along with it any more than if they decided to call themselves the "moral superiors" or "god's chosen people".

We might not be able to get the traditional media from using that incorrect and prejudiced term, but we don't have to aid and abet them.

to be pro-life, since I oppose the death penalty, think war should always be the last resort, and oppose the proliferation of guns and other weapons of mass destruction.  I rescue injured animals, and support charities that are working to clean up the environment.

I resent being called pro-abortion, just because I support women's rights.  No one I know thinks abortion is something casual, I don't know anyone who has a cavalier attitude about ending a pregnancy.

I wish it was possible to change the framing on this issue.

I call out the terminology every chance I get.  I tell them:  I AM 'pro-life and pro-choice' you ARE  'anti-abortion and anti-life.  They will argue but I ask about their feelings regarding capitol punishment and war plus who is to take responsibility for the unwanted and abused children.  Call them OUT!!!
