  •  Honestly, anyone who equates George Washington (7+ / 0-)

and Osama bin Laden has to be either (a) a terrorist lover or (b) a mouth-breathing idiot.

see the distinctions between Washington and Bin Laden or between Al Qaeda and the Iroquois nation.

The only thing that matters right now is whether the Islamic world will see the distinction.

      Whether China wil. Or Iran.

And giving the world America's legal documents legitimizing torture without holding anyone accountable...

well, the GOP I think is going to have a pretty easy time convincing Americans, and probably rightly so, that Islamic people, Europeans, Chinese, Iranian, etc... all of them are going to see as clearly as we do that the next American president has been given the right to torture, and to order torture, and Obama won't do anything about it.

Giving them irrefutable ammunition (our own legal justification for torture) and then saying we're deaf to your outrage and your calls for justice...

well, that's only going to increase the danger to Americans in my view.

      So my point remains:

Obama has made us less safe in doing what he's done in the way he's done it.
