  •  Hi Tyler, (0+ / 0-)

well...certainly a topic for another diary, Larouche that is.

I also appreciate his/their whatever development plans too. I think their idea of actually building a maglev system is simply not going to happen in our life time. The Chinese may expand their Shanghai-Airport run to Biejing but I somehow doubt it will go beyond that.

Their best stuff IS on nuclear energy, it's well written, well researched. But it is a cult, isn't it. It's "all about Larouche". It's not just their paranoid anti-drug policies but their hatred of rock music including Jazz (!!!!!), their obsession with the British (I think unlike yourself, they are totally a-historical), US interests and British interests, vis-a-vis imperialism have pretty much been the same since before WWI and were consolidated by FDR AND Churchill. Most of their charges are unsubstantiated, IMO, after reading "Dope, INC" back in 1976 or so. I've followed them for decades.

They defend the Mexican crook and ex-Prez Lopez Portilo because he gave Larouche the time of day a few times. They defend Mugabe, they defend the Sudanese gov't, etc etc. I think they totally exaggerate their influence by several factors. That he can get a hearing now and again in Italy or China doesn't mean he influences anyone.

Back when Larouche ran for Prez th first time in 1976, he predicted, ad nausium, a huge financial crash in 1979. didn't happen. Basically 90 out 94 predictions do NOT come true.

They predicted Hilary Clinton was going to win the Dem. Primary. Didn't happen. In fact, none of their political predictions came to pass.

But they are good on nuclear, arn't they?
