    A little something on federalism vs. nationalism. Madison at the beginning of the Federal Convention actually presented a plan for a National government, it was defeated. Plain and simple the delegates did not enact a National government, read the Convention debates for yourself.
       To add to this Madison himself was one of those during the VA ratification debates that rose to assure Patrick Henry that "We the people did not mean one coglomeration, but was still 13 sovereignties. VA, NY, and RI all ratified with the provision of being able to withdraw should they deem it necessary.
        On top of all this (and I'm only giving little snippets, try reading the Constitution itself to determine if we are one or 50. From the 4th article.."The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion". NOTE...each of them, not itself.
        OK, now who is for rule of law, and the right to withdraw?
