    if "he's been doing this kind of thing for years", then he is, most assuredly, a troll--if not more. More often than not, it is he who does the initial 'challenging'.

    It's not known as "thread disruption" for nothing, blueness. Even if he weren't the initial challenger, the chances of everyone ignoring over forty posts in one diary (most of them inflammatory in nature, and virtually none of them contributing anything remotely substantive) are piss-poor to none.

    One wonders why his trollery is condoned, while some others aren't.

      that it's because he generally isn't "the initial challenger" that his behavior is "condoned." He expresses his opinion--a divergent opinion, which is well within the rules here--and people start flailing at him. He responds, and they respond back. And it then goes on forever.

      If, as I said, people ignored him, his responses would dry up. And if they didn't, it could then be argued he's trolling. It's hard to make that claim, even if he's got, as you say, forty posts here, when all those posts, except his initial one, are in response to questions/attacks by others.
