now, while there's no 'run on the store' and plan on rotating them so they don't go to waste should nothing happen. As far as work goes, nothing different to do.

What would it take? A real outbreak serious enough to close schools.

    •  How much do you trust local government officials? (2+ / 0-)

I mean this seriously, and am not trying to be alarmist -- but saying that "an outbreak serious enough to close schools" should be one's trigger point to shelter-in-place suggests that we can trust local officials to be competent and informed enough to know when to make the call to close schools, doesn't it?

I've been paying attention to you and the Reveres and others in flublogia on H5N1 long enough to trust your judgment -- but some random school district superintendent who MIGHT be well-informed, but also might not even know the difference between "stomach flu" and "influenza," not so much...

    •  You mean you aren't already stocked up? (2+ / 0-)

Not good.  You should always have two weeks of supplies stocked up at all times as well as a backpack (or backpacks, if necessary) with a couple of days of supplies for everyone in case you need to evacuate.

I am stocked for that and more. I'm assuming I'm talking to those who have not.
