    there has to be an us v. them mentality?  if we can step back and look at the societal construction of it, is this the construction that necessarily is, or just one that we've created?  i honestly don't know the answer to that question.

    but, with this attitude, management gets to have the same fucked up stance.  sticks, carrots.  well, how about - no one fucking HAS a carrot.  no one.  we're all in the same boat - it's all sticks and we're all beating each other to a bloody pulp, nothing gets done, until - it's finally a level playing field where no one has anything.  

    because despite the us v. them construct, it really is mutual interest.  there's no one at a company that doesn't work - and if they aren't successful at their work, the company fails, and no one works.
