  •  economic nationalism is not progressive (0+ / 0-)

I have nothing against a US firm hiring Indians, nor Japanese firms hiring Americans in Ohio (Honda), Michigan (Mazda) and California (NUMMI), nor German firms hiring Americans in West Virginia (VW), Alabama (Mercedes), etc.

Ken Lewis should be fired, stripped of all compensation, tried and jailed if convicted, but not because he hired people who are not American.

Reducing the economic crisis to one country against others does a disservice to the entire world.

    •  I have to disagree. (0+ / 0-)

This false "global economy" can only end in a bad way. The rest of the world seems to know this, but we want to pretend we can be the world's consumer market, while making our workers compete with people who earn a tenth what we do.

Until we figure out that free trade is choking this country, we are going to keep heading down the drain.

...we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals.
