    Unfortunately, 45 years after the enactment of the Equal Pay Act – a law originally intended to secure equal pay for equal work – women who work full time still earn, on average, 78 cents for every dollar men earn.

    This statistic is meaningless. If women are doing the same work at the same level of experience, you might have a point, but this doesn't say anything about that.

    I'm a hardware designer with X years of experience. Women who should be compared to me are also hardware designers with X years of experience. Any other comparison is meaningless.

    I neither agree nor disagree that wage discrimination is a problem for women. If the problem is that there are more male engineers or whatever than females (hence being paid more), the solutions are far different than if male and female engineers are paid differently for the same work.
