I'll check my grocery store today, but I have half a bottle that's lasted months. Unless the spread is dramatically halted, and it doesn't seem likely, we're about to see how fragile our consumer goods supply system really is.

    •  Try Sam's and Costco... (0+ / 0-)

they sell it in gallon jugs.

with gylcerine (to gel it up a bit and provide moisturizing qualities) and isopropyl alcohol... anyone got more details?

      •  Yes, recipe here (0+ / 0-)

To 1 cup isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol)
add 1 teaspoon glycerin and stir. Put it in a bottle.

I learned this from Dr. Michael Greger's book, "Bird Flu" which is available online.

We make this up all the time and keep some in the car, some on the desk at work, at home in the bathroom, etc. The homemade stuff is runnier than the gel but it's a whole lot cheaper so you don't skimp when using it.

Oops! I'm gonna need a whole new sig!

    •  I live in the town with Purell's corporate HQ (0+ / 0-)

and they are salivating over the prospects for a spike in sales.  I wouldn't worry too much about shortages unless we hit a big outbreak.  They will be pumping the stuff out big time, and it's not difficult to make, FWIW.
