    You can find hand sanitizers with Benzalkonium Chloride in them, and they DO kill H1n1 and other virus.  (Including HIV)

    That's what I use, and it doesn't dry the skin as badly as alcohol.

      in the 'painless' wound sanitizers.  It is available in little pump dispensers where they sell band-aids.

      Hadn't thought about quaternary ammonium compounds....another useful idea.

      but thanks for this information! We were discussing it at work (drugstore) and even our pharmacist wasn't positive.

      In case anyone else is coming to this diary late, this is the ingredient in most of the packaged hand wipes.
