    as well as an antiquarian bookstore for about a year. The odor of old books is overrated and over-romanticized, IMO. I guess that's because I've come to associate that smell with things like broken spines, excessively worn covers, missing/stained/deteriorating pages, bug damage, DUST, and more hours repairing crumbling books that really wanted to die in my hands than I care to remember. I love books, but books in large qualities, especially really old ones, are a fucking pain I am happy to do without these days.

    I have a Kindle 1, and I love it - among its many virtues, it doesn't stink, doesn't attract bugs and is easy to dust off should it need it.
