    and series.  For those interested there is a very good book on the event by Karen Tintori, a desendant of one of the survivors. "Trapped: The 1909 Cherry Mine Disaster"

      I haven't read it yet, other than some Google Books excerpts, but intend to.  It'll be in a list of "further reading" at the end of part 2.

      Ms. Tintori and Steve Stout are supposed to be speaking at some events at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library in Springfield later this year, although I haven't been able to find a schedule yet.  The Library will have an exhibit on display about the Cherry Mine fire from this November through March 2010.
