    that was a protectorate of the Ottomans. But he didn't reign for long.

    While he Ottomans were more tolerant than any King in Christian Europe, they engaged in some of their own human rights abuses, in particular the kidnapping of Christian children for forcible conversion to Islam and service to the state as slaves. For some reason Jewish children were exempt from this horror.

      Correct.  Not the Unitarians.  Many of their nobles refused to wear a sword--and when obliged by law, wore wooden ones.
