  •  A "Torture Timeline..." (8+ / 0-)

Ye gods.  To have a chronological list of torture like we once had a chronological list of Georgie's lies...

I didn't think I could feel any more ashamed of my country than I already did, but that phrase sent me over the top to more shame and embarrassment.  After years of this, I can't stand much more.

I hope someone with some common sense tells Obama that we can't "move forward' until we take care of old business: going after Georgie, Dickie, and their criminal cohorts so that we can achieve some tiny modicum of justice for those who have died in vain or been maimed for life for the sake of their lies for oil.  I hope they choke on their oil and that it brings them comfort in their old ages.

If Obama is a constitutional scholar, let him prove it by abiding by his oath of office to the Constitution and our laws... and let him give Holder the green light to go forward with war crimes trials.  NO mere little 'congressional or investigative commissions' where crimes go to die and are never brought to light; NO immunity for anyone!  We KNOW crimes were committed; the war criminals bragged about it on video at news conferences.  Just charge the sonofabitches and let's move forward with a trial!  More crimes will be discovered as we go along, and more charges can be added later; for now, let's go with what we KNOW....

I didn't click on the link to the video of torture.  The mere idea of torture is bad enough, thankyouverymuch.  The reality would give me nightmares, and I know it.

I'm in the mood to watch war crimes trials..., and if we have politicians who decide not to abide by their oaths of office to the Constitution and the rule of law but join Obama in passively-aggressively doing nothing (like Reid, Pelosi, and Conyers have put us through for years), then we need to ask for their resignations and elect someone who will do what their oath of office says they need to do.

And if our politicians are still too chickenshite to do what's right, then bless the judges (or whomever) from other countries who draw up papers and arrest warrants for Georgie, Dickie, Bybee, Yoo, Gonzales, Addington, et alia, and may they succeed beyond anyone's wildest dreams because they are abiding by the UN Convention Against Torture, and the Geneva Conventions, etc., something our cowardly politicians are too chicken to do.

Keep up the good work, Meteor Blades, Patriot Daily News Clearinghouse, Valtin, and everyone else who keeps this most important (and distasteful) topic front and center.

      •  Many long years ago... (7+ / 0-)

... I used to read a lot about what went on in WWII concentration camps because it was rumored in the family that one of my uncles was with the unit that opened one of the camps toward the end of the war and he would never talk about it.  After a while the photos and descriptions gave me nightmares and I had to quit reading much about it all.

I can only take so much reading about the recent torture before I have to take two steps back and only know something new has come out about the horrors our country has put people through; the details are too much.

Meanwhile, I'll never get over this feeling of revulsion until/unless we get some kind of justice for the torture victims, and on behalf of those who died or were maimed in vain.  I'm way beyond wanting revenge or retribution; it can't be had at any price.  But I do want justice on behalf of those who have no voice....

      •  Oops, didn't finish writing.... (4+ / 0-)

I feel like my calls and emails to Congress and the WH on this subject are going nowhere.  I'd like to start sending encouragement to the people who might actually do something.
