(If you live in Ohio, I will have special instructions for you in another comment...)

These senators wrote a letter expressing support for the public option, but they stopped short of drawing a line in the sand and committing to vote against any bill that doesn't have a public option.

It's time to call them and thank them profusely for their support, but, it's time to step it up a notch. Ask them kindly to follow the lead of the progressive house caucus and to insist that a public option be included in any health care reform plan by committing to vote for a health care reform bill that includes a public option, but against any health care reform bill that does not include a public option.  This issue is too important and too critical for half measures...  The public option is the most important issue to the Democratic base.  Without such a plan, the base will literally revolt and show it's lack of enthusiasm next year.  Health care reform with no public option is no health care reform at all!  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, Senators!  Please don't blow it!

Please make sure that you are very clear in your wording that you support their efforts at health care reform.  You only ask that the public option be not negotiable...  We don't want any confusion that may hurt the cause.  I'd suggest repeating your thanks for their support for health care reform, and that you will have their backs for their courageous stand.

After you are done, call the leaders of the congressional Progressive Caucus, Black Caucus, Hispanic Caucus, and Asian and Pacific American Caucus.   Thank them profusely for their support of health care reform with a public option, and ask them to continue to stand by their previous pledge to vote against any "health reform" plan that does not include the public option.  We will support them and have their backs.
