    Working with the NYC City Council I saw that a very effective way for the public to break, reform, inhibit and perhaps prevent monopolies and cartels is for our government to compete in important industries. Give them some competition that their buddies won't. Even if the government competitor loses some money on the deal, that's likely a good price to pay for pressuring efficiency among the rest.

    And indeed it's exactly what a capitalist, and perhaps even a real libertarian, would want from government. Rather than coercion by law to compete in centrally planned tariffs/practices, instead just competition that uses the free market. When Republicans and corporatists can't get with that, it's obvious they have no ideas except feudalism.
