...exactly why are "diehard republicans" STIL mad at Crist...exactly?

Becuase he supported the stimulous package?  Has this really become the litmus test for republicans?

    Really? seriously?

It's hard to believe that anyone would consider a run to the right of Crist, especially since Obama carried the state. Florida has been moving at least towards the center and the wingnuts are either too stupid or too stubborn to admit that they and their ideas have been rejected.

They could be both too stubborn AND too stupid.

We in South Florida have had a little secessionist talk amongst ourselves on occasion...

Don't forget the Republican dominated state legislature reflects the unfortunate reality that there are plenty of Republicans left in the state of Florida.

Crist has been a tolerable governor for a Republican.  I would rather have him in the governor's mansion or the senate than a wacked out wingnut.  But I don't think a wacked out wingnut can win in a Florida general election right now, so a centrist Democrat should have a good chance.  Crist is solidly centrist and a popular governor, Obama carried Florida by a decent margin and we've been hard hit by the mortgage crisis in this state...all factors that go against the Republicans.   Hopefully they will go for the scorched earth strategy with each other during the primary and damage their general election prospects.

But seriously, Crist is okay.  Don't demonize him just cuz he's a Republican.
