Carcieri's veto looks like it could be easily overridden, but word is there's a lot of DINOs, especially the leadership.

Don't donate to the DSCC in 2010 - they'll give your money to Harry Reid. Donate to the candidates instead!

        ...but not its legislature.

Knowing the state, I would guess that they would override the veto, but that there are also a fair number of DINOs (lot of blue collar areas with the conservative union Dem types... no, that's not a rap against union Dems... unions have been some of the civil rights movements best supporters... but among their members, many are Dems only for the union purposes - and they vote for their ilk... DINOs).

So..... it'd probably be a close override vote.  My guess would be that, because of that, and their recognition of outside-of-state marriage, plus CT & MA allowing out-of-staters to marry there... the pro-marriage folks are probably preferring just to wait out Carcieri rather than take the chance on an iffy override vote.  But I'm speculating :)

...once Carcieri is evicted from the premises.

R.I. is not the most conservative state in New England.  It's residents may feel shame if they're the last ones on the bandwagon (*if* because we need Lynch's signature and a defeat of the Maine "people's veto").

Here in Connecticut, all is hunky-dory.  We're just trying to spread the love now.

I'd like to come back, please. Or to another lovely New England home. If I could convince my husband to tolerate winter...(trade warm winter for nice, warm civil rights).

I was born in Massachusetts, live in Connecticut, have huge ancestral ties to Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire, own property in New Hampshire, have several relatives in Maine, and hope to move to Maine some day (if I decide I can stand the cold! ...Bar Harbor is my favorite spot on earth).  I am New England through and through (except VT, I guess!).

...and these days, I'm proud of it!  :)  My partner and I will be marrying here in the state of Connecticut next summer.

winter woolies, and you're good to go.

Doesn't Texas get hot and fetid in the summer?
