some people in Virginia care about my thinking.  Also, since I am editor in chief of a major Virginia blog, once I have made up my mind I believe I have an obligation to announce it and offer my reasons.  Poke fun all you want.  I don't mind.

do we still have a Republic and a Constitution if our elected officials will not stand up for them on our behalf?

As a Virginian who has only been getting limited information about this race (mostly in the form of Robocalls from McAuliffe), I'm glad to read a detailed and informative opinion of the candidates from someone whose views I respect.

    •  Deeds is a fine choice, Ken. (4+ / 0-)

And, yes, I'm merely poking fun.  I absolutely appreciate that you make your decisions on whom to support with a considerable degree of care and thought, and, yes, that is a very good thing.  Would that more would do so.  I just get the mental image of you in hours of labor, with someone stroking your hand and encouraging measured breathing as you finally, well, pubicly give birth to your choice.

I also appreciate that it is difficult to choose a candidate who will, more likely than not, finish second--if not third--especially to someone who has as long political a memory as McAuliffe, and who is likely to remember who was with him for the primary campaign.  Yes, McAuliffe is a good Democrat, but not likely one I would support either, if given a reasonable option (as is Deeds and as is Moran).  So, I know this was no small decsion, (and it certainly was no small diary).

      Best of luck to Deeds.

I'll go ahead and say that your endorsement matters to me.  I'm still on the fence between Moran and Deeds, and the endorsement of someone I know to be an informed Virginian and whose judgment I trust is a major factor in my decision making process.

and I've been torn between Deeds & Moran for a while now, with Deeds having a slight edge. I've had a negative impression of McAuliffe for a very long time, so it's also helpful to read your positive thoughts about him, especially since it seems somewhat likely that he will win the primary.
