    "Slow" as a verb is to reduce speed. And "slough" as a verb is to cast off, which would be what Toomey would be doing to either Specter or Ridge if they were in the primary against him.

    •  Slough is appropriate... (0+ / 0-) are correct about the definition, but I am also correct about mine. The medical definition is as you have listed. Another definition is a bog, and the psychological feeling of being in a bog, which is, "a state of deep despair or moral degradation."
