    Cheney, or his record. The man opposed the war. The fact of his daughter documents this. The fact of his earliest deferments, going to "college," marrying the nearest GLBT-genre novelist he could find,

    Did John Kerry go to such lengths to oppose the Vietnam War? I'd suggest not, and that the very term VVAW was an oxymoron.

    The only Americans who have a greater claim than Dick Cheney for working to end the Vietnam War were the 58,000 or so who got themselves killed rather than continue to fight an unjust war. (This is just the figure for those killed in action, as it is impossible to pinpoint what percentage of the traffic fatatlies from 1962 to January 1973 were perpetrated to avoid fighting in Vietnam.)

    In terms of opposing the Vietnam War, there's the Berrigan brothers. There's William Sloane Coffin. And there's Dick Cheney.
