  •  If you're in extreme pain, death is imminent (0+ / 0-)

    what difference does it make?

My mother had an extreme fear of death all her life. She didn't want to take a vacation, in case "I won't have enough money for my last illness."

As she aged her mind deteriorated, dementia. I said, "She is going to forget to die." And she did. I was right.

She was diapered, bed-ridden, multiple organs shutting down. Vaginal infection (painful), throat/mouth infection, disoriented, losing ability to eat, aspirating food into her lungs (to cause infection). God she hated being diapered, would fight the staff. The indignity.

    Let's see what else.

And you, when that is you, you want to make sure no one takes away a day of that?

Be good to each other. It matters.

    •  Extreme pain? Induce a coma. (0+ / 0-)

With multiple organs shutting down, death is already imminent, absent truly heroic measures.
