    ...leaders of the torture talking points. Those leaders declare that torture (without using the word) was good, that it saved hundreds of thousands of lives, and that you, too, would have done it had you been in their shoes.

    That's the message they're hammering on daily, and the media, some aggressively, some just passive conduits, are enabling those torturers as surely as, sadly, some heavyweight Democrats apparently did.

    The rationale of Cheney and Yoo (and their pundit pals) is to distract, confused and redirect. A press that fails to push back on these assertions enables future torture. Are the propagandist succeeding? I don't know, but I suspect they are having an impact. It's up to us to keep hammering them, but, as we know all too well, even many progressives are tired of hearing about torture. So even effort to call out the lies is hampered from the get-go.
