    I'm simply stating that the whole exercise is for naught and also this will not be the first time that the assembly has overwhelmingly sent a marriage equality bill to the state senate with a governor who is ready to sign it.

      If we gain in the Senate, but still fall short, that's still progress. We keep inching towards victory. Plus, we don't know for sure we will lose. The only sure way is to try.

        that some of the Republicans may see the light. I've heard that some of the Republicans have been stating their "openness" on the issue, and so there may still be hope. I know the Log Cabin Republicans were supposedly campaigning for gay marriage with their fellow repubs, so who knows.

        The thing is, all the New Yorkers with Republican state senators should be calling/writing them to encourage a vote of Yes. Here's the Senate site - in case anyone is interested in contacting them...
