Christ, if you don't believe their stupid dogma then you are not a catholic. And for what reason would you hold onto an allegiance to an organization that stormed throughout Europe and then on the New World, forcing allegiance at sword point? Why would you call yourself catholic when they came into Ireland and forced their then new religion upon the citizens, forcing to cast aside the religion of the Celts? Why would you identify with an organiztion that has tortured & killed millions?

Drop the silly and ignorant allegiance. Walk tall.

Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of ugly stuff in Catholic history. I despise current Vatican leadership and feel strongly that the Church is headed down a dark, dark path. Heck, I'm actually an atheist.

But the Catholic Church has no monopoly on religious bloodshed, and literate Irish Catholic culture circa 1000 A.D. could plausibly claim to be a step up from Celtic human sacrifice.

Catholic Church showed up. Like all human endeavors, they became more enamored with their own organization, not on the founders words.

No martyrs to Catholicism in Ireland either.

Peace will not be the end, unless peace is the means.
