I had my doubts about the man, personally -- even though I was a committed supporter. In retrospect, though, I probably should have jumped on the Obama bandwagon right from the start...when he spoke at the DNC in Jan. '07. It was obvious to me that it would be a neck-and-neck battle with Clinton. That it didn't matter that Edwards had the best message, or that the was the best speaker. He was never going to get the star power the other 2 had, for obvious reasons which he was powerless to affect.

Maybe, that reality was apparent to him, too. Maybe, it affected him emotionally -- produced a self-destructive "what the fuck" response. Hate to psycho-analyze from a distance, but it seems to me to be a reasonable proposition.

      •  his affair was prior to the campaign. And anyone (0+ / 0-)

who explains that he worked at a hedge fund to "learn about poverty" had some serious credibility issues for me at least.

I agree about the credibility. He lost me as a serious volunteer at that point -- though he didn't really say it was to learn about poverty. He said he was learning about high finance, and learning how to assist the poor.

I don't know the details about the affair, but it seems you're right about the timing.
