  •  She will become more fodder for the sadists (8+ / 0-)

Do you honestly think these people care?
Do you really think they believe it isn't torture?

Grow up. They know it's torture. They don't care.
They've already got half the country convinced torture is OK
and now they're working on the rest. The media is totally on board.
This strategy is meant to turn the majority of the US population into a militaristic society; filled with fearful hatemongers who will support and volunteer for endless wars and endless killing.

It's the only way neocons & neolibs can accomplish the goal of world domination and a domestic totalitarian state.

Torture is backed up by the threat to use atomic warfare against any population that disagrees with the US "enough".  Of course atomic warfare / complete destruction is the ultimate threat that the sadists can use to enforce any policy they choose.  The justification is no longer that used by Truman to end WWII, annihilate selected civilian populations to end the war and avoid a prolonged, destructive and bloody land invasion.  Atomic warfare or its threat is now simply one more tool in the warbag of the militarists, one more means to the end of world hegemony.  Torture is a more "personalized" means to the same end.  But the message of torture is not merely directed to the individual subject, but to the population they represent.

    •  So why shouldn't the remaining 50% resist (5+ / 0-)

the strategy by spreading this kind of information? I don't think your telling me to grow up jives with your defeatism. The most grown up people I know are the least likely to live in negativity. If  people believe resistance to the plans you refer to is futile, is that not the moment they truly win? A lot of people who changed the world were called naive, etc.  I just don't buy your hopelessness.
