  •  I see, (0+ / 0-)

But their ideologies are shaped by their tactics: me first, no matter what I do to others.  I'm not sure how you can reconcile the two, but your strategy isn't exactly groundbreaking.  I mean, the Moran campaign hasn't been transparent in their efforts to use Rove tactics to win.  But guess what?  It's not working.  I guess the little bald gnome has lost his magic.

    •  The difference is clear (0+ / 0-)

I want to use these tactics to wipe out the Rethugs, in order to get health care for all Americans, strengthen labor unions, fix our education system, reduce the massive wealth inequality, work towards a clean energy policy, and combat climate change.  My goals are rather communitarian, and would result in a great benefit for a large number of people.

Bush/Cheney, etc were only interested in themselves and their wealthy corporate buddies.

The Rethug Party are anti-American traitors. The Congressional Rethugs form a fifth column intent on destruction of America.

    •  While Moran has used some of these tactics (0+ / 0-)

he may have opened the door for Deeds to squeak through.  We'll have to see, but I think Deeds has some momentum, and may pull it out at the end.  If Deeds pulls out the upset, Moran might have successfully executed a murder-suicide which will prevent the real suicide of the party by nominating Trashbag Terry.

      •  Deeds has already lost to McDonnell, (0+ / 0-)

So that's a problem.  And as smart and decent as he seems, he stutters through his speeches and isn't dynamic.  He'll lose to McDonnell- and if you think McAuliffe is a "trashbag," then I hope that you will agree with me that McDonnell is a "sewage plant."

Your hatred for McAuliffe is baseless.  Being a "trashbag" hasn't stopped anyone from ever winning an election.  In fact, it seems to be quite an advantage in politics.

That is, assuming that McAuliffe is, in fact, a "trashbag," - which he isn't.

Furthermore, your "the means justifies the ends" mentality isn't democratic.  It's manipulative and harmful to the principles of why we need to get health care for all Americans, strengthen labor unions, fix our education system, reduce the massive wealth inequality, work towards a clean energy policy, and combat climate change.

Moron's murder/suicide is self mutilation our cause as.  You are only providing the razor blade.

        •  Obama would have lost to McCain (0+ / 0-)

in the 2005 electorate.  Deeds would have easily beat McDonnell with the 2009 electorate.  His 2005 loss is irrelevant.

I'm an authoritarian, so the means justify the ends is fine with me.  "Democratic mentality" is really a secondary priority to getting the things done.

I agree that McDonnell is a filthy piece of shit.  I would support Terry in the general for one reason, redistricting.

          •  I don't know how you know that. (0+ / 0-)

You can't make blanket statements like that and believe they will be taken as fact.

In my estimation, I see no difference between the 2005 electorate and the 2008 electorate.  And besides, to place predictions on the outcome of an election based solely on the makeup or "mood" of the electorate is spurious.  The candidates, their message, and delivery of their message is far more influential in the outcome.    Did you not learn anything in November?

There are two games that are played in politics:  the "we have better values" game and the "politics is war" game.  From what I can tell, both parties participate in spades.   The former finds itself being played out in "tea parties" and anti-war rallies; churches and U2 benefits; gay pride parades and Klan cross burnings; Sociology conferences and Liberty University; and of course, Fox News and MSNBC.  The latter gets played out secretly, and is far more dangerous because it's not about who or what is right, it's about who or what wins.  It can work, and has done in the past, but more and more it is proving to be a destructive game that removes the importance of humans while elevating the careers and egos of political operatives.

Saying you are authoritarian doesn't exonerate your culpability in damaging what you purport to believe in- it just makes you appear internally compromised.  If you don't want McDonnell to be the governor of Virginia, then stop suggesting that lies be told about McAuliffe.  If you believe there is a better candidate in the primary, promote their platforms honestly and vote for them in June.  You are playing a rapidly losing game, and you aren't even playing it well.

Since when has any election ever been anything more than choosing the least of all evils?
