    and the author is very bright. It's well written.

    It's a must read for anyone who is interested in the idea of Western Civilization. It is however not orthodox and would probably not be liked by a reader with progressive leanings.

    It describes in detail  the grand (orthodox) narrative
    of Western Civilization which became dominant after
    WWI as a deliberate policy of the US government and educational institutions.

    Those parts I like very much.

    The critique is a delicate but forceful argument that the grand narrative misses certain aspects of Western Civilization: its Western European roots. The grand narrative emphasizes the Greek heritage but there is an underemphasis in regard to Western European civilization.
