...a relationship problem with their mothers?

I'd call it "sexually frustrated right wing homophobia" but that would be a disservice to sexually frustrated right wing homophobes.

Let's see just how screwed up these people are in the human sexuality department.

... is essentially about who may and who may not have sexual access to a woman when she becomes an adult, and is also about how her adulthood--and sexual accessibility--is defined.  [...]
This most profound aspect of marriage--protecting and controlling the sexuality of the child-bearing sex--is its only true reason for being,

In other words, it's all about making sure that nobody messes with your woman?  Did someone kick sand in their faces at the beach?  Or are they just really, really, really overpossessive of their partners?

    It gets better...

Few men would ever bother to enter into a romantic heterosexual marriage--much less three, as I have done--were it not for the iron grip of necessity...

For people who believe in the sanctity of marriage and its role in childbirth of more wingnuts, these people sure seem to have a lot of divorces.  Whatever happened to the sanctity of wingnut marriages?

But it gets even better than that...

... Every day thousands of ordinary heterosexual men surrender the dream of gratifying our immediate erotic desires. Instead, heroically, resignedly, we march up the aisle with our new brides, starting out upon what that cad poet Shelley called the longest journey, attired in the chains of the kinship system--a system from which you have been spared. Imitate our self-surrender.

Yes, conservatives really want to be bound up in chains!  They're male submissives, and thanks to all those un-kinned gay people, they're coming out in the editorial pages of the Weekly Standard, a document I'd never associated with the S&M community before, except perhaps as an instrument of torture for a few brave and really perverted souls.

But the very best is very last ...

Marriage usually takes place at the beginning of adulthood; it changes the status of bride and groom from child in the birth family to adult in a new family ...

Paging Dr. Freud!  Paging Dr. Freud!!

It never ceases to amaze me. I knew it all along. I am wondering if he's relieved to get all these fantasies out so he doesn't have to hide them all along.

I've always said the gay marriage leads to incest marriage slippery slope argument was just wishful thinking on part of the right.
