    And remember the audience is the Republican party -- a southern, white (and male) base.  So the attacks are right on target with the intended audience.

      I don't buy into the "regional party" thing too much. There are plenty of working class and poor whites in New Jersey, Chicago, etc. who can buy into the "reverse racism" line if the environment is right. 70% of the country turned to Obama in '08 because the GOPers screwed things up so horrifically from 2000-08. People knew they needed a change. But if circumstances don't improve, if they see no difference between Obama and Bush, then these lines of attack will work with some percentage of them. Obama won by what, 8%? Sounds big, but if 4% switch their votes, the margin of victory is gone. We've got work to do, let's admonish our own too.
