    very, very interesting. The gist of it is, when healthcare is an every-man-for-himself free for all for doctors who care more about maximizing profits than they do about healthcare, the results are disastrous.  It's not about one doctor, it's the whole culture of how they get paid and who is in charge of them.

    At one point in the article they note that the per capita medicare expenditures in McCallen exceed the per capita income of the city. They compared to another Texas city identical in most ways except for the particular business models in McCallen - and found that other city to be dramatically cheaper for Medicare. And the people live just as long, have outcomes just as good.
