    There are air conditioners that run on natural gas.  Like any AC, on balance the whole thing gets hotter.  Same goes for the planet -- put more energy into the atmosphere, and you'll get more fog in some places (I look forward to taking a gondola through the fog in SF) and plenty more and bigger storms.

    The larger increase scenarios might be unrealistic, sure, but then again we also never thought the north pole would be ice-free within 20 years.  Seems to make sense to plan for the worst case.
