  •  And, bullshit (10+ / 0-)

Just this past week, Gallup found that 69% of Americans favor allowing openly gay people to serve in the military (scroll down about three-fourths of the way to the bottom). In July 2008, a WaPo/ABC News poll found 75% support.

In the 110th Congress, there were 149 co-sponsors for the Military Readiness Enhancement Act (MREA). Reintroduced in the current Congress by Ellen Tauscher, the bill now has 150 co-sponsors.

The American people get that DADT is a stupid policy. So do more than one-quarter of the members of the House of Representatives. So why is it that people like you are still spouting this "we have to go slowly" bullshit, as if this were still 1993?

    •  So why hasn't it passed? Or come out of committee (1+ / 0-)

Getting rid of DADT is popular among voters and congress, yet, it needs Obama before it even gets out of committee?  And it needs Obama to do an end run around Congress and refuse to enforce the law?

Something isn't computing, and I think that I've pretty much called it right.  You and I both know that Congress is in no hurry to get rid of DADT, and that Obama has to do something to make it happen.  That's why you've put the demand on him.

You're better off reading Josh Marshall in the first place.

trying to fix the economy and deal with the fact that it's practically June and we still don't have any of the 13 appropriations bills for the 2010 budget written with only one quarter remaining in the federal fiscal year? Not to mention the fact that Congress hasn't exactly been working hard on much of anything.

But, unlike the president, they have at least done something.
