  •  Mental illness? (2+ / 0-)

The people who do things like this, and Randall Terry, really seem mentally ill to me.  They have just fixated on this one idea--that abortion is killing--and lose all perspective and common sense.  For me that is the only way to understand it, but of course I may be wrong.

    •  That statement sounds too apologetic. (5+ / 0-)

We don't need the news media to be reporting that this was one "mentally ill" individual who acted alone.  We need the news media to be reporting that this latest incident of "home grown terrorism" may have ties to several "pro-life" organizations.

      •  I'm just trying to understand it (0+ / 0-)

that's all.  Yes, it is terrorism.  But I am just one of those saps who asks "why":  why do people do this?  The same question occurs to me about other forms of terrorism.

        •  Because they are driven to do such things (0+ / 0-)

out of blind obedience to self-professed "people of god" who constantly preach hatred cloaked in "god's word."

          That's why.

          •  But why can people be manipulated (0+ / 0-)

like this?  Until we can figure this out we are condemned to see this kind of news again and again.

            •  Well, yeah, but good luck. (0+ / 0-)

Zealots were described in the Bible, so they go back a minimum of 2000 years and far before.  Insane dedicate focus to only one tenet.  And what does it get them?  Martyrdom, frequently.

And the people who "drive" the zealots?  Power hungry fools. Over and over, for thousands of years.  Hard to believe it is going to stop.

Although.... France has a good idea.  If they outlaw Scientttology, that will be a step in the right direction. (purposely misspelled so Tom Cruise won't jump on my sofa)
