and we could do a lot worse. He certainly doesn't make me stroke out like the majority of Repugs. Northern New York is an odd mix, not typical Republicans. I believe the majority of Republicans up could still be called "Rockfeller" Republicans. We have a number of pockets of 'liberalism' particularly in St. Lawrence County around the colleges. McHugh always had the backing of the unions and protected Fort Drum, which is a huge economic resource for northern New York. FYI, this is my very first post. I've a lurker for years!

want tap on your local knowledge when the special election comes up.

McHugh probably was a Rockefeller Republican (like Chris Shays) - sadly the few remaining ones have been driven out the party.

Let's hope the pull of having a member of the majority in Congress will be an additional pull.  Fort Drum and the Adirondak Park have special needs.

      :)

I'm your neighbor, in NY-24 which went for Mike Arcuri in 2006 (& 2008)...I helped out with the campaign at that time and it feels GREAT! First time in like 75 years that our House District went Democratic! I always liked McHugh, but it sure would be wonderful have NY-23 go Dem, also...
