    •  please grow up -- it's not a high explosive (0+ / 0-)

thermite is not a high explosive...look it up

      high explosives detonate

thermite "conflagrates"...it burns at high temperature

Although it can be made to explode...it doesn't detonate like a real high explosive (just like the gas/air mixture in a car engine explodes....but gasoline isn't a high explosive either)

by the way..one of the reasons Hans Goldschmidt ( the inventor of thermite ) got his patent is that he found a way to PREVENT thermite mixtures from exploding...prior to his work people would mix a metallic oxide with another metal, heat it a kiln/furnace to reach ignition temperature...and the mixture would explode

also...people seem to think iron oxide/aluminum is the only type of thermite -- WRONG -- many metals are extracted from their oxides by using thermite ( low carbon chromium, niobium, etc )

      •  You look it up, read the report (0+ / 0-)

This kind of high tech Thermite can be used in one of two ways, as an explosive or to melt steel. The authors of the report say this thermite was used in both ways on the WTC buildings.

        So, conflagrate yourself.

      •  Also... (0+ / 0-)

How do you know so much about thermite but NOT know it is used in demolition?

        •  metallurgy/metal casting is not demolition (0+ / 0-)

I'm interested in metallurgy/foundry work...so I know about it's uses in extracting metals from their ores, misc. stuff in foundry work, and welding
