The old-school libertarians would be mighty pissed off. Because let's face it, the libertarian movement in America, for all its diversity, is very ideologically driven, centered around core principles of extreme deregulation and personal freedom. Yet there's a second-tier of people who adopt the "libertarian" label, unconvincingly, simply because it's hot and fresh. Glenn Beck calls himself a libertarian. So does Bill Maher, and Mike Gravel, and Dennis Miller. When you have neocons, religious rightists, and liberals calling themselves by the term along with the genuine free-marketers, it's pretty much meaningless.
