    that the Times today would publish an article that shows the lack of any results from the chastising of the public editor.

    Reading Greenwald and the memos themselves shows how ass backwards and distorting the headline and the lede of today's article is.  While the headline says that U.S. Lawyers Agreed on Legality of Brutal Tactic , the emails themselves say the exact opposite.

    And yet, Stephanopolous twitters today that the emails are a "stunning" development.

    And this is all beside the point that "legal memos" cannot excuse lawbreaking, especially a heinous crime like torture.

    It's as though Bill Kristol were still at the Times editing torture coverage.

    The GOP: "You can always go to the Emergency Room."
