    but the national and state atmospherics were excellent for NY House pick-ups in 2006 and 2008.

    The hated Bush was in office, and the tickets were topped by Eliot Spitzer and Obama, respectively.

    That kind of wind will not be at our backs next year.

    A public option for health insurance is a national priority.

      All the more a reason why we should get started early this cycle in informing NYers what the extremist obstructionism the GOP plans for NY state.

      Do not forget (as I am sure you would not) that the far right GOP is very unpopular in NYC and Upstate, with the exception of the boonies where no one lives.

      Just as in the Scott Murphy election earlier this year, we can make a difference on the ground, and we should if we can.

      Btw, do you think we can pick up all 3? Or just a two?

        Lee is a freshman who votes against Obama, and King may run for Senate.

        So it's doable, I guess.

        The top of the ticket will still matter, not just for pick-ups, but also for all the relatively new House members (Murphy and Massa, in particular).
