If you think the Repugs won't fight him tooth and nail on every issue, SC appointments, EFCA, healthcare, the environment even without DADT you are on crack. Have you been awake the past few months? The Repugs force 60 votes on every damn little thing.

How many coalitions did he build when no Republican votes for his budget?

There will never be a good and convenient time for this. Yet he had no problem saying he will close Gitmo. He had no problem taking bold steps with GM. He had no problem mending fences with Muslims abroad. All pretty bold steps. Yet on this, he can't even hold a town hall or have a policy speech or meet with members of congress? Give me a fucking break.

Until Obama does something tangible for the GLBT community, beyond pretty speeches, he is just "All-Talk Barack"

    •  You will see. By doing it in a logical order, (0+ / 0-)

he'll get it all done. Those who argue that it is now or never will eat crow when it just gets done in a year or two or three. What is the big hurry with DADT anyhow? Are there not enough gay people dying in uniform now, we need to get more of them into body bags asap?

I'm in the pro-Obama wing of the Democratic Party.

Who gets to go to the back of the bus?

        •  That's ridiculous and very self-centered (0+ / 0-)

IMO. There are literally thousands of individual issues out there of varying importance. Yet every year only some get to be effectively dealt with. Does that imply that everything else is "at the back of the bus"? I guess you can use that language if you want to, but it belies a lack of interest in all of the injustices that exist in this country right now that do not affect your own group. There's a whole lot of shit that Obama has to fix, and he has at least 4 years to do it.

But the reason that I state that GLBT is at the back of the bus is because of the diarist's statement that Congress has kicked the can down the road until 2012 even though the SCOTUS refused to overturn it. Rights denied to one group of people affect all of us.
