But I do not understand for a minute those who insist on his focus on DADT now, other than that they are somewhat immature and, like children, want what they want RIGHT NOW.

Let me make it as clear as possible -- What parts of the Constitution requiring us to treat everyone equally don't you understand?

The Constitution is the most important thing. If we can't treat everyone equally, then all these other issues won't matter at all.

we are losing important military specialists at a time of war.

Also, an important brick in the struggle for African Amercian civil rights was desegregating the military. Things are getting worse for GLBT civil rights in this country, not better, despite the few states that offer gay marriage. In 34 states you can be fired for being gay. Violence against GLBT people is on the rise. Housing discrimination is rampant. Marriage equality hangs by a thread - what stops some new Republican governor in any state from having a ballot measure to stop gay marriage like in California?
These are all basic civil rights issues. The most basic one would be repealing DADT. When people realize they can fight along side of gay and lesbian soldiers in life and death situations and call them brothers and sisters, that is an important start to change.

Until Obama does something tangible for the GLBT community, beyond pretty speeches, he is just "All-Talk Barack"
